Join PAVE Parent Leaders for DC Parent Voice and Choice Week!

Each year in January, PAVE has hosted a series of events where our parents from across the city share their stories with the Deputy Mayor for Education and DC City Council over breakfasts and luncheons at the Wilson Building. This year, “DC Parent Voice and Choice Week” (January 22 – 25) will highlight the critical role families play in creating a successful DC education system by placing them at the front-and-center of this event. Aligned with PAVE’s mission and vision, this week is about parents and families sharing how they made, and continue to make, the “best” decisions for their children in education.

Last year, the first-ever DC Parent Voice and Choice Week (DCPVCW) was a tremendous success, bringing 60 members of PAVE’s Parent Leaders in Education Boards to the Wilson Building for 10 meetings with DC elected officials and education policymakers. PLE Board members met with their respective DC Councilmembers and engaged in impactful conversations about the role of families in future of the DC public education system. Their collective voices sent a message to our elected officials that parent advocates are informed, empowered, and ready to work in partnership with our policymakers to better serve our children!
