Our Solution: Develop Parents as Partners and Leaders

PAVE’s vision is to connect parents, schools, policymakers, and elected officials to make collaborative decisions that ensure all students have access to great education in DC. 

PAVE accomplishes this through a three-pronged approach:

• Community Engagement & Organizing – PAVE connects parents through a citywide advocacy network, informs parents about the inner workings of DC’s education system, and empowers parent leaders and partners to collaborate with policymakers on decisions that impact their children.
• Policy & Advocacy – PAVE builds the tools and resources parent leaders need to be informed advocates around parent-selected issue areas and works directly with elected officials and policymakers to bring parent voices to their work in order to create system change and shift policy. 
• Communications – PAVE catalyzes the influence of parent voice in the DC education system by communicating constantly to provide parents and policymakers with the information they need to exchange ideas and design parent-driven policies.
